Very anxious patients obviously need a lot more of our time, and we spend as much time as we need to with those patients. Many times, it's just a matter of them coming to the realization that we do, in fact, understand and know that they're angst is real. Once they get a feel for the fact that that's where we're coming from, people will generally get calm enough to allow us to do procedures.
While understandable, avoiding dental exams is about the worst thing you can do. The earlier we find problems like cavities, the quicker and easier it is to treat them. But if you don’t see us until after a problem has worsened, you’ll need more complicated and costly treatment. And that creates even more dental anxiety!
With 200 years of combined dental experience among us, our team knows how to relax you. Let us help you overcome your dental anxiety! Call our Millburn, NJ dentist office at (973) 957-1604.

People who are particularly anxious can benefit from the use of laughing gas. It doesn't make anything less uncomfortable. It just makes things easier to manage. They still need to have Novocaine, but the mental aspect of things can be lightened quite a bit. But, again, I still feel that the most effective means is talking about what the issues are. As soon as patients understand that we know what it is that they're afraid of ... Some people hate the air. Some people hate the sound of the drill. Some people had a bad experience with a particular procedure, and as soon as we get to the root of what it is that they're uncomfortable with, then at least we know that they're going to pay attention to it. And we do pay attention to it.
Here are some examples of our comfort-enhancing technology:
- PerioLase dental laser. This laser enables Dr. Krosser to treat gum disease by removing infected gum tissue without a scalpel. There is little discomfort, and both treatment time and recovery are much quicker than with traditional gum disease treatment.
Offering Longer Or Private Appointments

- Soft pillows
- Cozy blankets
- Local anesthesia, so you won’t feel any pain
