For me, general dentistry is pretty much everything. We treat just about every procedure in the mouth, we do here as general dentists. Certain procedures that become more complicated need the assistance of a specialist many times, but we do our own root canals. We do our own fillings, our own crowns and veneers, and obviously, cosmetic bonding and hygiene. We treat gums. We use lasers for gums, we use lasers for teeth, we use lasers for detection. It all works out very, very nicely. There are complicated procedures where we need a specialist to come in or we need to send someone out to a specialist but for the most part, we try to do as much as we can for people right here. It makes it easy, just as a parent to be able to bring your kids here, and your family, and Mom, and everybody.
We use the latest technologies such as CariVu to detect cavities in their earliest stages, for example, so we can treat them with a simple tooth filling. Cavities that go undetected will likely result in more costly and complicated treatment.

General Dentistry Keeps Your Family’s Teeth Bright & Healthy
Among the general dentistry services available at Millburn Dental Arts:
- Dental cleanings. Our dental hygienists get into all of the nooks and crannies that are easy to miss at home with a toothbrush and floss, removing damaging plaque as they work.
- Gum disease screenings and treatment. Because gum disease is the leading cause of tooth loss among adults, we check for it during every exam. If we find signs of it, we treat it with a deep cleaning treatment using our high-tech laser.
- Dental sealants. We can apply clear plastic sealants to your tough-to-clean back teeth to protect them against decay. While we often use them for kids’ first permanent teeth, we sometimes recommend them for adults too.
- Fluoride treatments. Fluoride is an effective way to prevent tooth decay and cavities.
Custom Mouthguards Protect Your Family Athletes
If you’ve got any athletes in your family, we can fit them for a custom athletic mouthguard that will protect their teeth far better than the “boil-and-bite” mouthguards sold at drugstores. In addition to a custom fit that will be more comfortable for your little slugger, our mouthguards are also made of more durable materials than off-the-shelf types. We can make them in-house or send them to a lab, depending on the type of mouthguard recommended.
