CEREC Crowns Can Save Your Smile, Time
Chip was quite the baseball player in his high school days.
He knows he was never going to make the big leagues, but he thought he could recapture some of those glory days by signing up for his company’s softball team.
He is still relatively young, and he’s sure he can create some new memories. In the opening game, Chip was dashing for a flyball … when he ran face-first into one of his teammates.
His enthusiasm cost his team an out. More important, he wound up on the ground.
So did part of a teeth.
That wasn’t so lucky, but fortunately, he lives near Millburn, NJ. That means he can make an appointment at Millburn Dental Arts to get a same-day dental crown.
Real Restorative Dentistry
Chip isn’t a real patient, but our same-day dental crowns a real service.
We offer CEREC crowns in our office. This means you can repair your damaged tooth in a single visit to our office.
Dental crowns can help patients, like Chip, who have a broken or chipped tooth.
They can also help patients with worn down teeth, discolored teeth, misshapen teeth, and decayed teeth. Crowns can seal a tooth after a root canal treatment, and a dental crown can be attached to a dental implant to create a full tooth replacement if you are missing a tooth.
CEREC crowns are made of a solid ceramic. They are strong enough to allow you to continue eating the foods that you love and lifelike enough to preserve the appearance of your smile.
Getting A Dental Crown At Our Office
To get a dental crown at our office, the first step is removing parts of your tooth that are discolored, decayed, or damaged.
The healthy parts of your teeth will be reshaped so they form an abutment. This is where we will attach the dental crown when it is complete.
With CEREC, we have an in-office milling machine. We can place a ceramic cube into the machine, and it will mold it into a shape of a tooth.
Before you leave, we will bond the crown in place. You can leave knowing that the crown restores the form and function of your tooth.
If you are missing a tooth, the process is a little different and takes a little longer to complete. After a dental implant is placed into your jaw, we will need to give you some time to heal before attaching the crown.
When this process is complete, most people won’t be able to tell your crown from your natural teeth.
Getting A Dental Crown Somewhere Else
Not all dentist office’s offer same-day dental crowns. This can drag out the process over a week or more.
Everything will start similarly. Other dentists will reshape your tooth into an abutment.
After that is when the process changes.
Those dentists will need to place an order at a dental laboratory to make your dental crowns. The time it takes to get your crown back will depend on how far the lab is and how many orders they received ahead of yours.
In the meantime, the dentist will place a temporary crown over your tooth. This should be fine unless the temporary crown comes loose or breaks.
Sticky foods could pull the temporary crown out of place. Hard foods (like carrots) can pray the temporary crown off.
When your permanent crown does come in, you will need to make a return visit to that dentist’s office to have it bonded in place.
Your Time Is Important
As much as we enjoy seeing our patients, we also know that coming to the dentist’s office is probably not on your list of favorite activities.
By offering CEREC crowns, we are able to give you a fully functioning permanent dental crown. We also complete the process in a single visit.
You won’t have to make plans to take more time off work or away from your family to complete a procedure that could be completed in one trip to our office.
Restore Your Smile
If we are being completely honest, we would prefer it if none of our patients needed a dental crown. Yet, our experience tells us that accidents will happen, and some people will let tooth decay go too long for a filling to fix their problem.
If that happens to you or someone in your family, fix your tooth faster by coming to our dentist office in Millburn, NJ. To schedule an appointment for a dental crown at Millburn Dental Arts, call (973) 957-1604 or contact us through our online form.
